Glencolmcille Folk Village

Glencolmcille Folk Village
Glencolmcille Folk Village is a fascinating open-air museum overlooking Glen Bay in southwest Donegal. The village is arranged around a collection of traditional thatched cottages, with each cottage representing a different period in local life. Inside, period furniture, household objects, tools, photographs and everyday artefacts help tell the story of the people who lived and worked in this remote part of the county. Visitors can learn about farming, fishing, crafts, local customs and the realities of rural life across three centuries. Much of the experience is inside the cottages, although visitors move outdoors between buildings. There is also a craft shop with Irish-made gifts and locally produced work. The Folk Village is a rewarding cultural stop for anyone exploring Glencolmcille, Sliabh Liag and the surrounding coast.
